Reverse Lens Test, Guess What is this
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Decided to try out the reverse lens technique one day. Actually I have heard of this technique quite some time back, and I have seen some really impressive works using this technique. And I mean, really impressive. Using this technique, you attach a lens - reversed - to your camera. Either by using a special adapter. Or just by holding it with your hand, like what I did *LOL*.

It was almost like a magnifying glass >_< It wasn't easy to master. Depth-of-field becomes really shallow, just a small teeny-weeny move and you could lose the focus! Open the aperture of the reversed lens to its widest to avoid vignetting. But I didn't know where the aperture ring was on the 50mm lens that I used, neither did I know how to lock it! Fail -_-"

But heck, I just wanted to test and run. That's all, not like I'm hoping to get any impressive pics.

But Francesco from deviantART takes really impressive shots using this technique. His setup? This! His recent work? An amazing shot of reflection in a water droplet - Green Secrets. Check out the droplets on the grass in the reflection!

And me? Well, I took this. Try guessing what it is. No prize for guessing right 'tho :P

I'll post the answer pic on Friday. Stay tuned if you want to know what is that!

Conclusion? I think I'll just stick to my Raynox and Hoya macro filters for now *LOL*
