Bangkok : Food

I have only one word to describe it all ... SPICY!! Spicy, spicy, spicy! I'd say almost everything we ordered had my spicy tastebuds tingling! I admit I have a very low threshold when it comes to hot and spicy food, but come onnnn .... even the dessert we ordered (which resembled like our Chinese guai-lin-gou) had ginger-ly taste in it!!! Even a clear soup noodle we ordered had a dash of spicy-ness in it!

I guess the only non-spicy food we ordered was the Pineapple Fried Rice at the Suan Lum. And I had it for dinner there - twice! Yes ... I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. I'd rather play safe because um, um ... I am fussy and picky *roll eyes*

The first stop after arrival - dinner at the Suan Lum night bazaar. The place was like a large open-air food court, with an equally high and huge stage that had live singers performing on it. Disco lights and blaring speakers!

I can't really recall what we had because my sister was the one making the orders and all. Well, I couldn't really be bothered myself because I was hungry by then, and it was too dark to really try and see what was on the table. Plus, we had a wriggly little boy in tow! Coming to think of it, I wonder if there was any special "delicacy" in those food *LOL* But I guess I really dig the Pineapple Fried Rice - it was simply fragrant with a dash of sour-ness from the lime squeezed in, fresh prawns and pineapple cubes to go with! And my sister, she seemed to like the Pad Thai a lot - a dish which she described as "Bangkok char kuey teow"!

Buffet breakfast all the way (except for one morning where I joined a tour to Ayutthaya), provided by the hotel's cafe. The average kind of buffet breakfast. At least something to keep our tummies from grumbling!

The mini pancake I had, topped with honey/syrup.

We also got to "savour" the food in the Platinum shopping mall's food court. Had the beef soup noodle - spicy but not bad at all! Hmm ... I don't seem to be able to recall the names of the food we had!!! Probably I was too tired and hungry from all the shopping and walking.

Lee's Cafe in Siam Center - the next place where we had our dinner on the 2nd night. Ambience was not bad - cozy and clean! Kinda reminds of me our Dragon-I here.

I thought I ordered some noodle dish. Only that when it was served, it turned out to be some mushrooms, meat and bean sprouts wrapped in what looked like chee-cheong-fun skin! Seeee, I've said I don't fancy being adventurous when it comes to food because I tend to end up not liking what I ordered!!!

I ended up eating less than half of it, and switched it with my sister's pot of rice with crispy fried chicken and "lap-cheong". Man ... the crispy fried chicken was awesome, but she left only a piece or two for me :( Served me right, so much so for ordering the wrong stuff!

Our final place before leaving back for KL - Yum Saap at Central World Plaza (World Trade Center).Nice place, nice food.

Everyone almost finished munching on the crispy fried pork skin even before the rice came. The tom yum was equally good and spicy with very generous portions of seafood and mushrooms in it - my younger sister practically sucked on the blended ice (from the lemon tea ice drink) with every sip of the tom yum soup she had!!!

The fried omelette was fabulous, I couldn't get enough of it. And I didn't get a picture of it :( There was also the papaya salad, which I didn't really adore. A few more other dishes ordered, but I couldn't recall the names. But if you could read Thai, here's what we ordered ...

Oh, we almost ordered a water lily dish ... but luckily we requested to see some "samples" of the water lily. Boy, thank goodness we asked, otherwise we'd probably be munching on some leaves which look like "pokok semalu" to me!!!

Water lily!!
